June 24 - 26 Weekend in Review

It was a busy and action-packed weekend of community engagement for our Neighbourhood Officers!

Senior's Safety Seminar

Our Elms-Old Rexdale Neighbourhood officers started the weekend with the Rexdale Presbyterian Senior Citizens Corp to speak with residents about different phone and internet scams. The Officers informed the group of the current and most prevalent scams targeting seniors, as well as how to protect themselves from these and other scams.

They finished the day with a one-hour Q & A session where various other crime prevention and traffic safety concerns were addressed.

Cram-A-Cruiser Food Drive

On Saturday, we held another Cram-A-Cruiser Food Drive in partnership with Giant Tiger Etobicoke and Rexdale Community Health Centre (CHC).

Our officers, along with workers and volunteers from Giant Tiger and Rexdale CHC, spent the day engaging with community members and cramming cruiser full of non-perishable food items. The donated food items were distributed to local groups and agencies to help combat food insecurity in the community.

End of School Celebration

After the Cram-A-Cruiser event on Saturday, our officers headed over to Elementary School Catholic Saint-Noël-Chabanel in the Thistle Down community to attend their end of the school year celebration.

The kids had a blast interacting with the officers and posing on the ATVs.

Congrats to everyone who graduated!

Rowntree Mills Pathway Mural Unveiling

Our Neighbourhood Officers ended their day by attending the Braiding Stories in Rowntree Mills Park mural unveiling. The event celebrated the culmination of a weeks-long public art and creative place-making project to revitalize Rowntree Mills Park as a community hub.

Our officers were happy to participate in the Indigenous-led dances and activities. It was great to see the artists, volunteers and local residents come together to celebrate the community and beauty of the park.

Community Service Appreciation Prayer Luncheon

The weekend couldn't have ended on a more positive note. Our Neighbourhood Officers were invited to attend a Community Service Appreciation Prayer Luncheon at the Toronto Perth Seventh Day Adventist Church for an afternoon of delicious food and amazing entertainment  - especially the saxophonist playing Bob Marley hits!

The officers were extremely moved by the unbelievable generosity and appreciation of the church and its volunteers. They presented our officers with individual certificates of appreciation, as well as a plaque for the entire Division.

It was an absolute privilege and an afternoon that won't be forgotten!

Until Next Weekend!
